Grungy Mixed Media Art Journal Pages

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you are doing well :)

For today's post, I've prepared Grungy Mixed Media Art Journal Pages using some beautiful Stamps, Stencils & Chipzebs by Mudra Craft Stamps. There is also a step-by-step pictorial for the first art journal spread, which I hope you'll enjoy.

Art journalling is a wonderful way to express oneself, express how we are feeling at the time, practise techniques and compositions, without the fear of criticism. The main aim is to enjoy the process, play with your art supplies, experiment, learn and keep trying.  So, let's start :)

1. Grungy Art Journal Spread- Life is Beautiful

Pictorial:

Step 1: Adhered old book pages & washi tapes to the journal pages using soft matte gel & then applied clear gesso over the surface to protect the papers & also prepare them for media work

Step 2: Mixed Heavy Black Gesso with Modelling Paste to create a black paste & applied it through Mudra's Square Extrude Stencil, adhered black thread to the pages while the paste was still wet

Step 3: Applied color using spray inks & created a loose watercolor look by spraying water

Step 4: Did background stamping using Mudra's Stamps- Checker Mini, Special Day Mini & Warli Stamp

Step 5: Adhered Mudra Chipzebs- Swirls & Words #2 using tacky glue/soft matte gel

Step 6: In the end, distressed the edges of the pages with ink & created splatter with watered down gesso

2. Grungy Art Journal Page- Together

Process:

1. Applied white gesso to the page to prep it for media work
2. Adhered washi tapes to the page using soft matte gel
3. Created a loose, watercolor look by spraying the page with water & dropping in different ink sprays in shades of pink
4. Did background stenciling using distress oxide & Mudra's Geometric Stories Stencil
5. Did background stamping using archival inks & Mudra's Stamps- Geometric Stories & Home Is
6. Adhered Mudra's Love Chipzeb as a focal element, drew on a scribbly border with a fine point pen & created ink splatters.
