Hello Crafty Folks!
I’m Manu here from Ahandfullofart and I’m sure you all must
have been very excited with the new MUDRA Chipzeb and the stamps release. This
Chipzeb release has some amazing designs and yes, it also has some super
awesome shaker chipzeb that are so much fun to use. I also liked the new geometrical
chipzeb in the shape of the heart and the concentric circles and the squares.
The Concentric circles and the squares are something which I find very very
versatile and so much fun to use. This
months release of the stamps also has some very interesting stamp sets, my
favorite being the couple stamp which can be used in a wide range of craft
projects, esp Love theme and the Mixed Media projects.
I have a few projects to share with you today. One is a
Mixed Media altered hoop and another is a gorgeous card made with this months
release of the Magnolia’s stamp set. I totally love this stamp set and if you
are a card maker who loves coloring the flower images, this stamp set is tailor
made for you!l I also have some tips and tricks to share with you, do follow
the instructions for each of the project to uncover some information that might
be useful to you.
Lets checkout the projects
1.
Floral card
Here is the Floral card made with the new
release of the Magnolia stamp set. So in love with this beautiful cluster of
flowers.
To make this card
1.
Take an A5 size card panel of a watercolor paper
and stamp the Magnolia stamp set using the BLACK Archival ink. WHY ARCHIVAL INK ?? Archival ink works best if
you want to try out watercoloring because the image doesn’t fades/blends when
working with water based colors.
2.
Colour the image using the `colors of your
choice. I coloured my image with Zig markers.
3.
Once the image is coloured, give a little extra
shade around the edges of the complete image with a very find and diluted grey
color. WHY a little shading around the edges?? It gives more depth to the image
and enhances the complete look of the card. Also splatter a little black colour
with either a brush to give a nice splatter look to the card
4.
Stamp the sentiment and then adhere this A5 card
panel to a pattern paper and then adhere the complete card to a A5 size card
base. Your card is ready.
2.
Mixed Media altered Hoop
I loved the couple stamp set released this
time and decided to make a gorgeous frame revolving around the couple from the
stamp set. Checkout the complete look of the Altered Mixed Media Hoop below.
To make this altered hoop:
1.
Take a embroidery hoop, I took a 8 inch approx
hoop keeping in mind the size of the couple.
2.
Measure a thick cardstock, around 250 gsm and
cut along the outer boundary of the hoop. Apply clear Gesso to make the
cardstock ready to play along.
3.
Take the mandala stencil and give a little
texture to your circular cardstock. Once its dry, I took a little Lindy’s stamp
gang powder and sprayed my circular cardstock with water and then dusted the
powder on top to reveal a gorgeous pink hue. Adjust your color at various
placed to give a nice shaded effect. At one corner, I used a little orange
powder to give in a little more added shade to the hoop.
4.
Start building your layers on your MM panel and
include various embellishments such as die cuts, flowers to build base around
the couple, MUDRA chipzeb
5.
Once you are happy with the way the frame looks,
the MM panel is done. Adhere a few chipzeb and I have used the TILES chipzeb to
form the word US for the complete panel
6.
To add a little rustic look to the embroidery hoop,
apply white gesso on the boundary of the hoop and use the Lindy’s powder to
give in the pink hue color. I also added a little Art Alchemey wax at various places
around the hoop. Checkout the rustic effect from the waxes below.
I hope you liked the projects and do not forget to enter in
this month’s challenge which is all about Floral and textures.
