Good Morning :)
We hope you are having a great time during the summer holidays & relaxing this Sunday.
For today's post, I thought of trying something new which I haven't done before.
I had a couple of mini diaries (4.5 by 6 inches) and a few mdf circles & ovals in my stash, so I decided to create Mini Sized Mixed Media Pieces out of these. The mini diaries are very cute & can be gifted to friends and family. Altering the mini mdf circles and ovals was very simple & easy. These can be used as fridge magnets, embellishments for albums/layouts/wall art or as focal elements for cards/tags etc... For all these, I've used Mudra's gorgeous Chipzeb Chipboards which are whitish in color, affordable & available in loads of great designs. It is lots of fun to use them in different ways & they really add the extra oomph to all kinds of projects :)
So let's get started.
1. Masculine Mini Diary Cover
2. Feminine Mini Diary Cover
Process:
1. For both the diaries, I did background stenciling by sponging on heavy white gesso through Mudra Stencils- Deco Pattern & Indo Tile
2. Then did background stamping using white pigment ink & distress oxides using Mudra Stamps- Checkers, Dad, Rustic Diamonds, The Man, Butterfly Layers, Ferns & Leaves & Mixed Greetings
3. Applied a little pink metallic paint to the edges of the purple diary cover for a shiny look & to add contrast
4. Used Mudra Chipzebs (matching the theme of each cover) to create a visually pleasing layered composition and then adhered them. For the Masculine cover used Barbed Wire, Fence Ring, The Man, Gears, Tiny Tags & Nested Circle Mudra Chipzebs & for the feminine cover used Bricks, Dream Jars, Garden Greens, Tiny Tags, Mini Roses & Cute Bird Mudra Chipzebs
5. Stamped lightly with distress oxides onto the chipzebs (for added interest)
6. Added gems, perfect pearls and nuvo drops as embellishments
7. Created splatter with watered down white gesso (to bring the whole design together)
3. Mini Mixed Media Circles
3.1 Kindness
3.2 Live
3.3 Love
4. Mini Mixed Media Ovals
4.1 Dream
4.2 Faith
4.3 Smile
Process:
1. Applied Heavy White Gesso to the mdf pieces to prepare the bases
2. Applied Light Paste through Mudra Stencils- Checkers, Deco Pattern, Falling Circles, Geometric Stories, Indo Tile & Memory Dots
3. Added colors using ink sprays, sprayed with water to create movement & dried each layer
4. Darkened the edges of some Mudra Chipzebs using Black Soot Distress Ink (to define their edges) then adhered them to the bases. Used Dragonfly, Mini Roses, Love, Love Chemistry, Swirls, Whimsy Butterfly & Tiny Tags Mudra Chipzebs
5. In the end, added a few gems for sparkle & white Nuvo Crystal drops.
