Hi Everyone,
Mirella here. Today we're going to focus on heat embossing and some more masking. Ready? Let's jump right in!
Card 1 - Delicate and sparkly
1. I heat embossed this gorgeous floral image & the sentiment on my card panel, using white detail embossing powder.
2. I then used my beloved Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar & Wild Honey), and blended them onto the panel, creating a nice gradient effect. I made sure to wipe off the excess ink off the white embossed image.
3. I added some water splatters for additional interest, and I covered the petals of the flowers & the leaves with a Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter pen. I love the sparkle!
4. I then matted the panel with some black cardstock, and adhered everything to a top folding pink card base.
5. As a final touch, I added some bling from my stash.
Card 2 - Golden heat embossing & masking
1. When stamping my little floral "scene" with Versamark, I made sure I masked the Zinnia image, to have the flourishes come from behind it.
2. I heat embossed all the images and the sentiment with gold embossing powder - it looks gorgeous on that kraft panel!
3. The flower is coloured with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens - they add colour AND glitter to the image, what could be better than that? :o)
4. For some additional interest, I inked up all the edges of my panel with Versamark Ink, and heat embossed a little frame in gold.
5. I matted the panel with black cardstock and adhered everything to a top folding cream card base.
Card 3 - Lots of masking with rainbow colours
1. To start off, I prepared 2 heart shaped masks.
2. I stamped the sentiment in black, and then stamped the heart images around it, making sure that they were more less within the width of the sentiment. I wanted these balloons to look like they were floating up towards the sky, one after another.
3. I then stamped the sentiments in grey, making sure that I masked the hearts required at the particular moment (2 masks were plenty for that, but if you don't want to have to reposition your masks, you could also have a mask for every stamped image). My MISTI was very handy at this stage, as I had the sentiment mounted on the MISTI door, and I just moved my card panel up and down (half an inch each time), in order to stamp all of my sentiments. However, you could do that using any other stamping tool, or - if you're careful enough, you could even do it by hand.
4. My initial idea was to use the negative mask I had left after cutting out the heart shapes, and I wanted to colour the hearts with Distress Inks, using the blending tool. However, my negative mask was a little small and fiddly, so in the end - to avoid making a lot of mess with the inks - I decided to colour the hearts with markers.
5. I added some white details with a gel pen, and covered the hearts with some Wink of Stella glitter pen. I also added a few clear sequins.
6. I trimmed the panel, to be a little bit narrower than my card base, and - before adhering the panel to my card base - I added a strip of striped paper on one side.
I think the 3rd card is my favourite, it was definitely fun to make! Which one do you like most?
