Mixed Media Projects- Steampunk Canvas & Sea Themed Layout

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you are doing well :)

Mudra Craft Stamps recently released some gorgeous new stamps, stencils and chipzebs. To check out the full September Release, please click HERE

For today's post, I've prepared Two Mixed Media Projects- A Steampunk Canvas and A Sea Themed Layout. I've used Mudra's beautiful stamps, stencils, chipzebs & sequins. It was so much fun to combine the stunning new designs with some awesome older ones. That is the great thing about each new release, there is an opportunity to combine the old & new products & come up with many new combinations! So let's start :)

1. Steampunk Mixed Media Canvas- Enjoy

Process:

1. Started with a 6 by 8 inch canvas board. Mixed heavy black gesso and modelling paste to create a black texture paste, applied that through Mudra's gorgeous new Steampunk Stencil
2. Added color to the background using sprays and then did background stamping with archival inks & Mudra Stamps- Sparkle, Diwali Sentiment & Dream Sentiment
3. Tied black jute twine around the canvas and then darkened the edges of the canvas using archival ink and waxes. To lighten the colors & bring out the textures, did the dry brushing technique all over the canvas using heavy white gesso
4. Colored Mudra Chipzebs- Gears, Steampunk Eye & Steampunk Heart using Black & Silver Acrylic paint. Created the focal cluster by adhering all the elements with soft matte gel. The focal element is a bulb which was coloured with gold acrylic paint. Added thread underneath the layers to add texture
5. To add shine & texture, created a paste of silver glitter, glass glitter, mini sequins, mini & regular art stones with Soft Matte Gel & adhered this texture paste to some places around the composition
6. In the end, created white ink splatter.

2. Mixed Media Layout- "Sea Adventure"

Process:

1. Took watercolour paper, 12 by 12 inches in size as the base and created an organic, watercolored background on it by adding sprays and water
2. Did background stamping using archival inks and Mudra stamps- Checker, Geometric Stories, Rustic Diamond & Diwali Sentiment
3. For the photo mats, applied black texture paste through Mudra's new Warli Mandala Stencil & then fussy cut the mandala. Also, applied grey texture paste through Mudra's Warli Pattern Stencil and cut out a second photo mat with this
4. Colored Mudra Chipzebs- Chains & Anchor and Fishing Net with silver waxes and acrylic paints to imitate metal
5. Created the composition by layering & adhering all the elements including Mudra Chipzeb- Sea Adventure, sea shells & charms. Used gauze & thread for added texture. For dimension, used 3d foam tape & pieces of cardboard between the layers
6. To create more interest, added regular and mega art stones using Soft Matte Gel in some places around the composition and for shine added Mudra's Couture Sequins- Harvest Mix (using glossy accents)
7. In the end, created white, blue and black ink splatter.
