Set of Three Layered Mixed Media Cards

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you are having a pleasant week :)

For today's post, I've prepared a Set of 3 Layered Mixed Media Cards using Mudra's beautiful stamps, stencils, chipzebs and sequins. There is also a pictorial of the process. These cards are my inspiration for the current Mudra Challenge 25 "Layer It Up". So let's start.

Layered Mixed Media Cards

Card 1: Smile

Card 2: Hi

Card 3: Wishes

Pictorial:

Step 1: Took Canson Watercolor paper as the base and applied heavy white gesso to it to prep the base. Then applied black gesso in some areas with a palette knife. For texture, applied light paste through Mudra Stencils- Floral Mini 1,2,3,4,5, Memory Dots & Floral Mosaic Stencils.

Step 2: For color, sprayed on various shades of pink and green and then did background stamping using Archival Ink & Mudra Stamps- Blooms Within, Checker, Geometric Stories, Old Script, Papillon, Pixels, Polka Dots, Rustic Diamond & Washi Tapes

Step 3: Cut the prepared panels into smaller pieces which would be used for layering, distressed their edges and outlined the textured, stencilled designs with a pencil to make them more distinct

Step 4: Gathered elements for layering including Mudra Chipzebs- Buds & Leaves, Cutie Tweety, Floral Frames, Garden Greens, Leafy Circles, Mini Roses, Pretty Butterfly, Simply Sherif Alphas, Spring Foliage & Words #1, thread, gauze & die cuts.

Step 5: Created the mats for the cards with a difference of 0.25 inches between each layer. Created white ink splatter on the black mat (as it was too stark). Used 3d foam tape & pieces of chipboard in between some layers to create extra dimension. While layering the elements on each card, created a visually pleasing composition with the die cuts & papers and then added the chipzebs to form the focal area and then added the gauze & thread for added interest.

Step 6: In the end, added a few Mudra Couture Sequins- Harvest Mix & Sugar Plum Mix for shine (using Glossy Accents), did background stamping on the black mats using Mudra's Old Script Stamp & white pigment ink. Drew on white borders on each black mat with a white gel pen. Lastly, created white ink splatter.
