Good Morning :)
Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you had a pleasant weekend :)
Did you know Mudra recently released many new gorgeous Stamps, Stencils & Chipzeb chipboards in their August Release! There is something in there for everyone :) Totally love the designs, variety and awesome quality offered. To check out the full August release, please click HERE.
For today's post, I've prepared 3 Vintage Mixed Media Cards using Mudra's beautiful stamps, stencils, chipzebs and sequins. So let's start.
Vintage Mixed Media Cards
Card 1: Hi !
Card 2: So Special 40 (Birthday Card)
Card 3: Hi
Process used for all 3 cards:
1. Took 3 panels of Canson watercolor paper & stuck washi tapes and strips of pattern papers to them, to create 3 different compositions or designs.
2. Applied clear gesso to the panels, to prepare them for media work.
3. Added color to the backgrounds using distress inks, oxides, distress paints, rust and patina pastes. Created drips and ink splatter for an organic and grungy look.
4. Did background stamping using distress inks and archival inks. For card 1 used Mudra’s Polka dots, Pixels, Geometric Nature & Papillon Stamps. For card 2 used Mudra’s Blooms Within, Geometric Stories, Washi Tapes & Go Confident stamps. For card 3 used Mudra’s Old Script, Rustic Diamond, Checker and Hello Sunshine stamps.
5. To add more interest to the background, did background stencilling with matching ink colors using Mudra’s stencils. For Card 1- Floral Mosaic Stencil, Card 2- Falling Stars Stencil & Card 3- Memory Dots Stencil.
6. For the focal elements and sentiments, used Mudra’s Chipzeb chipboards. For card 1- Birds on Branches, Steampunk Alphabets, Words #1 & Fairytale/Unicorn Chipzebs. For card 2- Steampunk tree, Words #2, Sherif Numbers & Mosaic Borders Chipzebs. For card 3- Simply Sherif Alphas & Floral Flourish Chipzebs.
7. To add a bit of shine, added few sequins from Mudra’s Couture Sequins- Harvest & Sugar Plum Mixes.
8. Created white splatter (to lend cohesion to the pieces) using white acrylic ink.
9. Distressed & deckled the edges of all 3 panels to give a worn-out look and then foam mounted them on black mats. Added another mat of kraft cardstock and finally, foam mounted these on white card bases. These are tall cards, 5.25 inches by 9 inches in size.
