Mudra Craft Stamps: Creative DIY Embellishments with Teabag Folding!

Hi! Nandini here with brand new inspiration for the current Mudra Craft Challenge #24. This month we are challenging you to use your favourite Mudra products to create some fun embellishments to decorate your projects.

It is a good idea to keep some embellishments handy to quickly put on cards, tags or gift toppers. Of course, there are many readymade embellishments available in the market. But creating your own is always more fun. Also, these can be made from smaller pieces of paper, felt etc. Which makes them great stash busters.

Embellishment 1:
I went back to one of my favourite techniques - Teabag Folding for my first one.

Take two papers from the Beary Hugs paper pad and cut out 4 squares from each.
Fold each square and then put a dab of glue inside to hold the folds.
Distress the edges of each with distress oxide inks.
Assemble the rosette, putting small dots of glue under the folds to hold the structure together.
Adhere a circle cut out of scrap paper on the bottom to stabilize the structure.
To finish adhere a small pearl to the centre.
These rosettes are great additions to cards, tags or gift toppers.

Embellishment 2:
A more complicated fold with some handmade paper.

Take two papers - one patterned and the other plain. Cut 4 squares each out of the papers.
Take the plain pieces of paper and stamp the Old Script stamp with distress oxide ink to create your own pattern paper.
Fold the squares and then assemble as above.
To finish, adhere a heart chipzeb to the centre. You can colour the chipzeb if you wish. But I just love the natural colour of the Mudra chipzeb. So I kept it as is.

Embellishment 3:
I pulled out the Cut3 Gardenia die for my last embellishment.

Cut 4 circles out of pink handmade paper - two small and two large. I used dies. But you can simply hand cut them.
Add notches around the edges and also distress with distress oxide ink.
Layer the circles and staple the centre.
Spray some water and then crumple the layers towards the centre. As the paper dries, the flower will open up. You can also shape it gently while it is damp.
Die cut two leaves out of the turquoise paper from the Beary Hugs paper pad.
Blend some distress oxide ink on top.
Take the Barbed Wire stamp, spritz with water and stamp on the leaves. This adds a slight texture to the leaves. Leave to dry.
To finish, adhere the leaves to the bottom of the flower. Add a large Harvest Mix sequin to the centre.
