Stretch Your Stamps: CAS Cards & Art Journalling

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you are having a good & relaxing weekend so far!

There are lots of fun things happening here at Mudra Craft Stamps.

Firstly, Mudra's Creative Team Call- 2018 is currently on, so if you'd like to be part of a vibrant Indian Crafting Company which manufactures tons of SUPERB supplies, now is a great chance to apply. All the details are HERE

Secondly, Mudra's Mega Giveaway- Pin to Win is also on, so please don't forget to enthusiastically & actively participate daily; like, share, comment, pin and be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes!!

Thirdly, Mudra's Challenge #23 is live & the topic is "Stretch Your Stamps", it is a very interesting challenge because it challenges us to think hard and come up with new & innovative ways to use our stamps. I have to admit, I kept thinking for long about this one. Then the idea struck me that we usually use our Holiday or Festival related stamps only during festivals, so if I could make general, non-holiday cards using festival stamps, it would be fun, new and very useful (as it would help me get more out of my current stash). So, for the challenge inspiration, I've made 4 Clean & Simple Style Cards.

General Clean & Simple Cards Made Using Holiday/Festival Stamps

1. CAS Card: Bloom

2. CAS Card: Did Someone Say Party?

3. CAS Card: Wish Big

4. CAS Card: Hello

Process:

1. For all 4 cards, I die cut stitched panels from Neenah Solar White Cardstock (110 lb) which is great for stamping
2. Stamped images from Mudra's festival stamps (Christmas, Islamic Festive Crackers) in various shades of dye inks onto the 4 panels
3. Stamped the sentiments from Mudra's stamps (Wild Rose, Rose Bud Mini, Mixed Greetings & Crazy Monsters) using coordinating colours of dye ink
4. Embellished the cards with a few Mudra Couture Sequins (Harvest Mix & Sugar Plum Mix) adhering them with glossy accents
5. Finally, foam mounted the 4 panels onto 4 A2 sized (4.25 by 5.5 inches) card bases.

I also wanted to show how we can stretch normal stamps to create a "grungy mixed media look" so for that I created an Art Journalling Page.

Grungy Vintage Art Journal Page: Fly Free

Process:

1. Applied heavy white gesso to the journal page to prep it for mixed media
2. Stamped the quote and one of the designs using Mudra's Stamps (Doodled Elements & Madhubani Borders) and archival ink.
3. Created a collage atop this using torn pieces of old book pages and then applied white gesso (roughly, leaving few areas) over it
4. Added color & splatter to this using ink sprays
5. Did more background stamping with Mudra's Stamps (Mendhika & Simply Alphas)
6. For the focal images, stamped on butterflies from Mudra's Grungy Butterflies stamp over the collage. Then colored them in and added few details with black & white sharpie pens
7. To frame the page, added a roughly scribbled on border using a black sharpie
8. In the end, created white splatter using diluted white gesso & a fan brush

Tip: To get a grungy vintage look, do repeated stamping in a few places around the composition, doing second and third generation stamping, add splatters, limit the color palette & doodle on some details with black & white pens.
