Mixed Media Projects: Canvas, Cards and Tag

Hi folks!
Good Morning :)

Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Hope you are having a good week :)

Mudra recently released some super cute stamps specially for the Rakshabandhan festival, for more details about these sweet stamps, please click HERE

For today's post, I've created 4 Mixed Media Projects using Mudra's beautiful Chipzeb chipboards, stamps, stencils and sequins. In case you have not yet tried the Chipzebs, please do, I promise that you will love them. They are whitish in colour so even when used raw, they look beautiful and there are so many gorgeous designs to choose from. They even have some stunning new Indian designs which will be perfect for the festivals ! Just adding a few of these to any project, be it CAS or mixed media or shabby chic, really enhances the beauty of it.

I've created a mixed media canvas, two cards and one mini tag. There is also a step-by-step pictorial for the canvas, so let's get started :)

***This is a picture heavy post, I hope you'll stay with me till the end***

1. Mixed Media Canvas: Dream

Step-by-Step Pictorial:

1. Started by adhering the negative left over pieces from Mudra's Chipzeb chipboards to a 6 by 8 inch canvas board using 3D Matte Gel

2. Applied Heavy Black Gesso to the canvas to prep it for media work

3. Applied the base layer of shimmer & colors by using a few sprays (in coordinating colors)

4. Used coordinating colors of waxes to color Mudra's Chipzeb Chipboards (Indian Ornate Corner, Indian Ornate Frame, Indian Ornate Motifs, Pasiley, title from Dream Jars Chipzeb) and the canvas base

5. Adhered the chipboards to the canvas using matte gel, then added a few art pebbles, colored them with pearlized metallic paint & in the end, highlighted a few areas with heavy white gesso & vintage silk wax.

2. Mixed Media Card- Thanks A Bunch

3. Mixed Media Card- Happy Birthday

Process for the two cards:

1. Used Canson watercolour paper for the panels, to start the background, created a composition with washi tapes and fabric tape & applied clear gesso to prep the bases for media work
2. Did background stamping using Mudra Stamps (Barbed Wires, Blooms Within, Fresh Cut Rose, Hexa, Rustic Diamond & Swing Girl) & archival inks
3. Added color to the backgrounds using distress paints & then applied white gesso roughly (in some areas) to blend everything
4. To add texture, applied modelling paste through Mudra Stencils (Memory Dots & Falling Stars) & to add shine, added copper glitter embossing powder to the wet modelling paste & heat embossed it
5. Applied metallic waxes to the second card to add to the shine & created ink splatter on both panels
6. Distressed the edges of the panels with a distresser and darkened them with vintage photo distress ink
7. Adhered Mudra's Chipzebs (Geometrical Heart & Pretty Butterfly) to the panels to be the focal elements and the titles were stamped using Mudra's Labelled Sentiments stamp
8. Adhered a few of Mudra's Couture Sequins (Sugar Plum Mix & Harvest Mix) to the panels using Glossy accents
9. Matted the panels in black & foam mounted these to 5 by 7 inch white card bases.

4. Rusty Mixed Media Tag- Fly High

Process:

1. Adhered the left over negatives from Mudra Chipzebs to one of Mudra's Simply Tags Chipzeb using 3D Matte Gel
2. Adhered a few art stones (for additional texture) to some areas using 3D Matte Gel
3. Applied heavy black gesso to the tag to cover everything and prepare it for media work
4. Colored the base using a combination of rust and patina pastes, till the desired effect was achieved
5. Colored and created a rusty look on Mudra's gorgeous new Steampunk Key Chipzeb & Words 1 Chipzeb using the same rust and patina pastes & then adhered these to the tag using 3D Matte Gel.
