Simple Cards & Masking Technique

Hey Hi,

Happy Monday Everyone!

Hope you have been enjoying our DTs' inspirations for the Current challenge #8 Masking.

Each one is bringing up the possibilities of looking out this technique. Our DT Deepti Stephens covered almost all intricacies of this technique. Check out her post and am sure you will fall in love with this technique :)

I have come up with 3 simple cards with Masking technique. Hope you like it!

Card 1

First up is the card using "Feathered love stampset".

  • Stamped the little grasses and stones as i wish to create a little scene.
  • Then masked these and stamped the birds couple, so as to appear as its far behind these grasses.
  • Then masked upper portion of these grasses and started to sponge with peeled paint to create the ground.
  • Colored the birds, grasses, stones using Fabercastell classic color pencils.
  • Then stamped, colored and fussy cut the Snail couple.
  • Then i diecut the focal panel using stitched die to create bit of interest.
  • Stamped the sentiment on a white cs and matted on to a black cs.
  • This sentiment strip is added on the focal panel onto which the snail couple are added.
  • These mounted onto a grey cardbase to finish off the card.
Card 2

  • Onto a white cs,  Stamped the sending from "Mixed greetings" and "You are sweet"
  • Then stamped solid circles in different purple shades of memento inks randomly around the sentiment.
  • Stamped the smiles in all those solid circles using black archival ink.
  • And stamped chevron circle in yellow using Stazon ink.
  • Then stamped a circle and a bow by masking a bit, to make a candy in purple shade, fussy cut in and UTEE clear embossed it, to make it a bit glossy wrapper.
  • Then diecut the focal panel using stitched die and mounted on to lavender cardbase.
  • Then added the glossy candy on top of the focal panel using foam adhesives.
Card 3

  • Used Hibiscus stamp set and my all time fave sentiment "Bloom in love" from Linen blooms.
  • This card i made for my January Stamping workshop at Dubai during Mudra launch at UAE.
  • Used Masking technique for flowers and leaves here.
  • Stamped a flower onto a watercolor cs, using Black and Sepia Archival ink centrally and masked it to create a scene around it.
  • Colored the flowers and leaves using Zig clean color brush pens.
  • Finally stamped the sentiment and mounted this panel on to black cs.
Hope you like these simple versions of Masking technique and also hope you play along our Current challenge #8 Masking
