Stenciled Cards & Faux Ceramic Tile technique

Hi! A very happy new year to all! Mudra has started the year with a bang! With a brand new release and tons of exciting products, 2018 is off to a great start! The very first challenge of the year is up and it is my absolute favorite theme

Yeah! You can make anything like Cards, Tags, 3D projects, Mixed media , Scrapbook Albums, Layouts, ATCs etc. Just remember that the stamps or stencils by Mudra Craft Stamps should be the focus.

Here are the cards I made.

Card 1:

I used very simple multicolored stenciling for a CAS design.

  • Take a piece of shimmer card base and tape the Arabic Patterns stencil in one corner.
  • Apply 3 colors of distress oxide inks through the stencil.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Butterfly Flutters stamp set with black ink.
  • To finish adhere half pearls to the panel and pop it up on some foam tape on the card base.

Here is a closer look at the card.

Card 2:

Continuing with stencils and distress oxide inks, I made one more card.

  • Take a piece of shimmer card stock and trim it to size.
  • Apply distress oxide inks randomly. Don't worry if it looks like blotchy mess.
  • Place the Arabic Patterns stencil over the panel and apply a dark ink through it. I used a dark blue. Since distress oxides are opaque, they hide the ink underneath completely.
  • Stamp the Special mini stamp set with blue and purple iks.
  • Die cut the sentiment panel and mount over the stenciled panel with foam tape.

Here is a closer look at the card.

Card 3:

I used a very old and very favorite stamp set of mine. I also tried my hand at the Faux Ceramic Tile technique.

  • Take a piece of white card stock and stamp the images from the Floral Fantasy stamp set with black ink.
  • Cover the entire panel with clear embossing powder and heat. Repeat the process couple of times to get a smooth glossy finish.
  • Sprinkle some pink embossing powder and heat. Do this till you get the look you like.
  • For the background, take a pale pink card base.
  • Stamp the flower from the Carnations stamp set with an ink slightly darker than the paper.
  • Stamp and heat emboss the sentiment from Carnations set on the grey mat.
  • To finish, pop up the panel on some foam tape.

Here is a closer look at the card.

A close up of the heat embossed panel. Just love the depth this technique gives.
