Hi! Nandini Karmarkar here with some sparkle and shine. Since the festival season is in full swing our challenge this month is

This month we are all going glam with lots and lots of glitter in our projects!! Glitter is a crafter's best friend and lets make everything sparkle and shine! You can use glitter in any form as long as it shine bright in your projects.

Products to use: Glitter tapes, Glitter Embossing powders, Glitter pens, Glitter powders, Sparkling Glitter Gems, Glitter pens,Glitter foam sheets etc.,
Though I am not a huge fan of too much bling, I do like to add some to my cards. My favored embellishments are sequins which are a wonderful way to add some glamour to your cards. Today I am going to show you a few of my favorite techniques for adding glitter to your projects.

Card 1:

The first technique is my absolute favorite!

  • Take a piece of card stock and cover it with thin double sided tape.
  • Take the Geo Patterns stencil and cover the back with Versamark ink. This step is very important since it stops the stencil from sticking to the sticky tape.
  • Place the stencil on the card stock and press lightly.
  • Pour the first glitter over and rub it in gently but firmly.
  • Tap off the excess and then gently remove the stencil.
  • Pour the second glitter and again repeat.
  • To finish, I die cut a window from a panel of grey card stock and stamped the sentiment from the Carnations stamp set under it. I adhered the glittered panel on the card base and popped up the die cut panel over it.

One of the easiest ways to add some sparkle to your project is with glitter embossing powders.

  • Take a pale pink paper and attach the stencil over it with masking tape and cover the areas where you do not want the embossing powder.
  • Apply Versamark ink through the stencil.
  • Remove the stencil and pour the embossing powder. Tap off the excess and remove the stencil. Heat set the embossing powder.
  • Repeat for the next color of embossing powder.
  • To finish, I trimmed the card base and stamped the sentiment from the Wishing You stamp set on a strip of pink paper. I added some glitter tape below the sentiment panel which I popped up with a foam tape.

Heat embossing on vellum is a great look. And you can use metallic embossing powders for a more subtle look.

  • Take a piece of colored vellum and stamp the blooms from the Carnations stamp set with Versamark ink.
  • Heat emboss with silver embossing powder.
  • Attach the vellum to a white card base.
  • Heat emboss the sentiment from the Simply Floral stamp set with silver embossing powder twice to get a nice raised look.
  • Die cut the sentiment panel and add to the card base.

This card also uses heat embossing on vellum, but with a twist.

  • Take a piece of colored vellum.
  • Stamp only the second layer of the flower from the Botanical Blooms with Versamark and heat emboss with gold embossing powder.
  • Add dot details with a embossing pen and again heat emboss.
  • Trim the panel. Die cut a frame from back paper.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Wishing You stamp set on a strip of black paper and heat emboss with gold embossing powder. Attach to the frame.
  • Adhere the vellum panel to the card base. Pop up the frame with foam tape over it.
