Fun Textures and Botanical Blooms

Hi! Nandini here with some inspiration for the latest challenge at Mudra Craft Stamps. All of us love our floral stamps, dies and stencils. So this month we are challenging you to dig them out and create something wonderful. And to keep things interesting we have added a twist. We want you to add some texture to your cards. You can use the following:
Florals: Use handmade florals using dies, punches, stamped florals, store bought flowers.

Textures: Make use of any pastes such as Embossing, Textures paste as such or with stencils, Heat embossing, or visual textures using color layers or Tactile textures such as Burlap, laces, frills.

I have three cards for you with some techniques for adding texture to your cards.

Card 1:
One of the simplest ways to add texture to your card is to use layers and textured papers.

  • Take a cream colored card base and flick some diluted dye inks to get splatters.
  • Take a scrap of textured handmade paper, trim it and adhere it to the card base.
  • Detach one of the sprigs from the Leafy Swirls chipzeb and adhere it to the handmade paper.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Carnations stamp set with a matching ink.
  • Trim the panel and pop it up with foam tape over the chipzeb.

Card 2:
Another easy way to add texture is to use an embossing folder.

  • Take a piece of dark blue card stock and run it through the embossing folder.
  • Adhere it to a white card base.
  • Die cut the Thanks die from silver glitter paper once and white card stock twice.
  • Stack the die cuts to create the sentiment.
  • Add thin strips of glitter paper to the card base too.
  • Stamp the buds and leaves from the Botanical Blooms stamp set and die cut them with the coordinating dies.
  • Arrange them around the sentiment in a pleasing manner.
  • Adhere everything down taking care to pop up a few buds on foam tape.

Card 3:
Did you know you can use your stencils for embossing? This is a wonderful way to add some texture to your cards.

  • Take a piece of green card stock and run it through your die cutting machine with the Geo Pattern stencil.
  • Line up the stencil over the embossed area and lightly apply some darker ink to make the embossing stand out.
  • Adhere it to a white card base.
  • Die cut circles with nested dies and adhere them to the card base.
  • Stamp the flower and leaves from the Botanical Blooms stamp set and die cut with the coordinating dies.
  • The sentiment is from the Carnations stamp set.
  • Arrange the flowers and leaves and pop up the flower with some foam tape.
  • To finish add some white half pearls.
