Over to Tej,
"Hi, I am Tej and currently calling Melbourne, Australia my home. I am a software engineer by profession, but for past couple of years I have changed tracks and now I am a stay-at-home mum to two toddlers. It was then I found out about card-making and papercrafting and fell in love with it. I enjoy making personalised cards for friends and family in my free time. I also have a blog – A PaperAffair (https://apaperaffairblog.wordpress.com); I would love if you could pop-in & say hello! :)
Hello friends! I was at a de-stash event recently and was
able to get a set of edge dies I was longing for a while now. If you read back
through my posts you will understand that I am a budget crafter :) so I prefer
buying stamps to dies and so when this event opened up imagine how high I
jumped with excitement :) And add to that the excitement of writing this guest
post for Mudra Craft Stamps; its a wonder I was able to stay in my seat to
finish writing the post!
I always wanted to use the 'Botanical Blooms' stampset from
Mudra for a while now and this seemed the perfect time to break it open. I have
had this stamp in my stash for a while now and only reason for not using it was
not having enough co-ordinating inks; as this is a layering stampset. But I
have been building up my ink stash for a while and finally now I have just
enough to finally put this stampset to use!
I used a variety of ink cubes from HeroArts, Memento Dew
Drops and Distress Inks to create the different flowers. Its so easy to use
this stampset - the different layers are clearly marked on the stamp guide,
which makes layering a breeze! I simply stamped the first layer with the
lightest color and then went darker for the next layers to add the shadows.
Such beautiful details on the stampset, just brings the florals to life! Next
was the bit I am not much fond of - fussy cutting the images.
I then cut out the card base using wonky rectangle stitched
die from GinaMarie designs. Then using the border die, I cut out a border at
roughly 1/3 rd height from bottom of the card base. I ink blended lightly using
the Tumbled Glass distress ink on the left edge of the card base. For the
sentiment, I used the 'Brushed' stampset from Mudra and stamped the 'best
wishes' using Versafine Onyx black ink.
For the card panel, I used a cream colored cardstock from my
stash and cut it down to standard A2 size card size. I covered the entire front
using some pattern paper. I then foam mounted the card panel onto the card
base. I added some black ink splatter and then arranged the florals on the card
panel. I adhered some direct to the panel and some on foam squares for
dimension.
Embellishments - I went simple, with a few sequins and clear
Nuvo drops. I love how this turned out! I am sure I will be using this stampset
more and more in future as my ink stash grows! :) I can already think of so
many color combinations!
Thank you so much to Varshitha & the team over at Mudra
for giving me a chance to guest design for them. This was my first time and
hope I did justice to the beautiful stampset :) and thanks to the readers for
sticking with me till the end! Signing off now..happy crafting!
Cheers..
Tej"
