Spotlight Technique Pictorial & more inspiration

Hello Everyone,

Today I am here to share a Pictorial for our on-going challenge and some more inspiration using different technique. Let me start with a brief introduction about Spotlight.

In general words, Spotlight means: a lamp projecting a narrow, intense beam of light directly on to a place or person, especially a performer on stage.

The same way we highlight a particular object, character in our stamping, which is known as Spotlight Technique in card making.

Now, I will show you a small pictorial for my card. Let’s start,

A step by step process for first card, as below:

Products I have used here are:
  • Butterfly flutters and Wishing You Stamp Set
  • Masking Sheet
  • Impresso Acrylic Block
  • White Texture cardstock and Bielo Cardstock
  • Archival Jet Black Ink
  • Steadler Luna Watercolour Pencil
  • Sugar Plum Mix Sequins

Step 1:
  • First I took Masking Sheet and a white texture sheet and stamped largest butterfly from “Butterfly Flutters” stamp set.
  • Next I have colored one butterfly which is stamped on white texture cardstock and Second butterfly I fussy cut so that I can use it as a Mask.

Step 2:
  • For creating a background, I have placed coloured butterfly on center of Bielo cardstock and mark lines around butterfly.
  • Next, I have placed Butterfly Mask at same place where the colored butterfly area marked.

Step 3:
  • Then I have stamped the same butterfly on left and right side of the center butterfly.
  • Now moving to next butterfly stamping. I have removed center masked butterfly and placed on left butterfly which is just stamped.
  • And then as same as earlier, I have stamped another butterfly. (Note: I have placed rough white printing paper under my working cardstock so that my mat won’t stained due to archival ink).
  • I temporary attach my colored butterfly to see how it looks.

Step 4:
  • For creating Spotlight technique, I have colored or make the background grey wash (colored with black and grey color pencil) so that it look alike darker background.
  • Then I have placed my colored Butterfly and adhere it at the center of the cardstock.
  • Embellish it with “Wishing you” stamp set and Sugar Plum Sequins.

That’s it. Some More Photos to show you.

Some Brief Info, how I have made this card.

  • As you can see I have used Distress Oxide Inks ( Peeled Paint, Cracked Pistachio, Blue Print, and Iced Spruce). I smudged this inks on an acetate sheet and spray a lot water to give a watercolor background.
  • The Wreath I have made using "Ferns and Leaves" Stamp set (July Release) using different Distress Oxide Ink. I just love this stamp set.
  • Fussy cut the outer side of the wreath and for the inside part I have die cut using circle stitched die and stamped using "Wishing you" stamp set. And adhere the fussy part with foam double sided tape and die cut adhered flat with tacky tape.
  • For the sentiment I have use the same stamp set (Wishing you) and adhere it with foam double sided tape.
  • To complete my card I have used Harvest Sequins.

Now Lets move to my last card,

This is one of my favorite card. A simple and elegant look.

Some brief info about this card:

  • I have started with stamping "Fancy Flourish" stamp set using versamark clear ink and sprinkle silver embossing powder and heat it with heat tool.
  • For flower arrangements I have used "Wild Rose" stamp set, stamped with black archival ink and give a grey wash color with steadler luna watercolor pencil and fuzzy cut it.
  • Then for some die cut I have took circle stitch die and border die-cut from silver mirror paper and a circle from bielo cardstock (Stamped using "Universal Love" and another is  "Wishing you")
  • I have adhered both frame and circle die-cut with foam double sided tape. And with the same manner I have adhere and arrange "Wild Roses" on a left side of the circle.
  • To finish my card I have adhered some heart die-cuts.
