How To Make A Simple Mixed Media Card | Video

Hello everyone! This is Deepti Stephens here and today I'm going to show you how to make a simple mixed media card using Daisy Blooms and Book Mark Stamp sets.

What is a Mixed Media card?

Straight up, a mixed media card is a card that is created using a variety of mediums, it means using any of the following in addition to the usual stamps and inks:

Mediums that add texture. Some examples: fabric, stitching, embossing paste, texture gel, gel medium, modeling paste, gesso, textured paper, glitter, found objects

Mediums that give dimension. Some examples: die-cuts, chipboard, embossing powders, epoxy/thick stickers, embellishments, found objects

Mediums that allow you to use (and even combine) different techniques. Some examples: watercolor, pastels, alcohol inks, markers, chalks, acrylic paints, oils, crayons

Even using various tools and supplies is okay. Some examples: die-cutting machine (manual or electronic), monoprinting tools (Gelli plate), embossing folders, punches, dies, stencils, templates.

Basically, a card that has stamps and inks PLUS at least any two of the above (embossing paste and alcohol inks, for example) is a mixed media card. 

I took a standard sized white card base and today I would like work on a Canvas cloth. I loved the texture of the canvas! I took Faber-castell blue gelato and created the background, I went heavy handed at the bottom portion and light at the top. By doing so you can get a cool ombre look! This Gelatos are so creamy and soft and blends smoothly and reacts with water well.

Then I took the Daisy Blooms Stamp Set! This stamp set is a layering set and has got two floral images and leaves ofcourse! I chose the second floral image which has got three layers, but I skipped the second layer and stamped the third layer on top of the first. I stamped the solid image with Lilac Poises Memento Ink and the third layer with ColourArte gold pigment paint using the help of the sponge that comes along with the Gelatos kit. And for the center portion of the flower I stamped with Frost White ink from Color box.

I did the same for the leaves also - I used Hero Arts Neon green ink. These flowers are so cool and pretty and they really shine in real life! I was not able to capture that shine on my camera. 

Next, my canvas panel has dried up completely and then I went ahead and added tiny droplets of pink color with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink followed by Gold Pigment Paint.

To add more depth to the canvas, I rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink at the edges directly against the canvas and look at that grungy feel! Don't you love it?

Finally adhered everything with Tombow Glue and stamped the sentiment from Book Mark Stamp Set with Black Soot Distress Ink. And finished my card off with a few added sequins!
