Mix & MatchUps!!!

Hey Hi Friends!!

SathyaKala here from Paperie Expressions.

Hope you are all very much inspired with our Designers' Inspirations posts. Wait for much more...many on its way :)

My inspirations' take focus on Stamps and the way how it gels with any Mudra stampsets. All the attempts here are my first times.

Before i jump into my  inspirations, Just a thing to share with you all that, Will be in MIA for next 2 months completely...I take up this opportunity to thank Varshitha, for giving me this lovely opportunity in Mudra Team and of course made me to enjoy craft-free vacation :)

Now onto my projects :

Watercolored & Embossed card :)

  • Recently stumbled upon a tute for Watercolored Embossed card.
  • I made the same attempt on Canvas paper.
  • I scribbled some colors using Zig pens in pink colors and green colors.
  • Sprayed the whole canvas paper with water and made colors to move.
  • Dried it with heat gun and fixed the colors.
  • Then clear embossed Linen blooms solid stamps -flowers, bud, leaves on the colored portion of the canvas.
  • This attempt captures the colors.
  • To reveal the real loveliness, colored the whole canvas with Black soot, embossed portion resist the inks.
  • Buff and remove the colors on the embossed area using wipes carefully.
  • Then fussy cut every element and mounted using foam adhesives and centred with pearls vellum diecut.
  • Gingham tape and sentiment on canvas from Brushed stampset to finish off the card.
Stampsets used :

Mixed Media ATC:

  • Took a corrugated cardboard from packaging and torn at few places to reveal the corrugation.
  • Then its stuck to a thick black cardstock for extra support.
  • This ATC is bit large than regular ones. Mine is 3"x 4".
  • First its liberally white gessoed then with Stormy Sky DI, distressed to get a night sky effect.
  • For the clouds, Colorbox white frost pigment ink was used.
  • The hotair balloon from Beach fun is taken and fussy cut 3 sets as portions and added to give a bit 3 D effect.
  • Heavily colored with Wildhoney, Rusty hinge and black soot DIs.
  • Sentiment from Farewell is stamped, fussy cut and distressed with wild honey DI and clear heat embossed using UTEE.
  • ATC edges are buffed with versamark, heat embossed using black and followed by white Embossing powder.
  • Then splatters of Gesso for the stars.
  • All glued using Hot glue gun and that completes my ATC.

Tag Triptych:

  •  Made trio of tags using Dreamcatcher and Butterfly flutters stampsets,  and then made them into Triptych (literally means 3 art pieces which are hinged). This idea of Triptych, drawn from Pinterest.
  • Mine used 3 pieces of canvas papers, which are Gold heat embossed, distressed using various Distress inks.
  • Centre sentiment piece uses a techinque called Pillow top, to give an embossed effect using distress inks.
  • Rest is plain enough which says series of play with Distress inks and coloring with Zig pens.
  • Went ahead and laminated to seal the colors.
  • All are glued to the 2nd largest size of TimHoltz Tag dies in Black cardstock.
  • Then all 3 tags are glued on thick black double stitched ribbon.
  • Baker's Twine added to finish off my Triptych.
Stampsets used:

Mixed Media Door Hanger:

  • Saved the favorite for the last :)
  • Took a wooden plain doorhanger. Gessoed heavily with White gesso followed with stenciling using Prima modelling paste using Stamplorations Crisscross Stencil. Then applied with Prima Egg blue chalkboard paint, doing so, the stenciling will be so even and subtle look will be obtained.

  • Dainty blooms flowers just reached me this time and couldn't able to resist.
  • Stamped using Archival black ink, colored using Zig color pens and UTEE clear heat embossed this to give all those glossiness and also to give sturdiness to the fragile branch and flowers.

  • Placed these on stenciled base, added Prima resin bird houses.
  • Before which, grass from Beach fun are stamped using Altenew Evergreen ink and colored using Zig color pens.
  • Meticulously fussy cut, UTEE clear embossed and mounted on using foam and hot glue gun to add depth.
  • Sentiment from Linen blooms are added in canvas paper, frayed their ends and distressed with Tumbled glass.
  • Randomly sponged with Momento Toffee crunch on stenciled portions.
  • Timholtz word band, few ribbons, resin flower as accents.
  • No heavy embellies, as i wanted a simple plain look. This is a gift to my sweet sister, who relocated now to Mumbai and bought her new home :)
